Starting with the lens set at about 24mm, I zoomed in on Mum and her student, Melissa, to 55mm in approximately 1 second. Although they were nearly perfectly still, there is a feel of movement in the shot.
Ah, so now I finally understand how these pictures are taken. One of the things a compact point-and-shoot camera cannot do. ;-)

My "old" toy Canon A70 is in hospital and awaiting diagnosis. Not sure whether an upgrade is pending. I like what you are doing with your new toy!
